Can I keep my private registration plate when I part-exchange?

Yes, you can keep your private registration plate for your new vehicle. You'll need to transfer it from your current vehicle before we complete the part exchange, which can be done through the DVLA either online or by post. 

This typically takes a few days, and the DVLA will issue a retention certificate. We can still proceed with the part exchange while this is being processed - your old car will revert to its original registration or receive an age-related plate, and you can then transfer your private plate to your new vehicle.
